We just returned from Isabella's parent-teacher conference... love going to those and hearing about our girl.  She's having another wonderful year and we're so proud of her!

Here's what her teachers had to say:

Personal Attitude and Social Development:
Isabella is a bright and cheerful child with a strong curiosity and
intense interest in learning about the world around her.  She is
always happy to be at school and works busily throughout the class
time.  She has good communication skills and can easily verbalize her
thoughts and desires.  She is independent in choosing her work and
taking care of her self.  She can regularly be observed talking and
working with other children in the class and has truly become a part
of the classroom community.  Isabella has a great sense of order, can
organize her work and relate new knowledge to that previously
mastered.  She has good self-control and is able to complete the work
cycle.  Isabella has good concentration, good large and fine motor
skills and excellent listening skills.  She can always be counted on
to help or model behavior as needed.

Learning Skills and Interests:
Isabella retains concepts easily in all areas of the classroom.  She
returns to the familiarity of Practical Life and Art, during which she
is often socializing with other children while she works.  These
activities continue to help her with a deepening sense of organizing
her work, fine motor skill and concentration.  Isabella always
completes her work in the midst of these combined activities and then
chooses and move to another.  In Math, Isabella has worked with the
ten and teen boards, learning the vocabulary of these numbers.  She
explored the hundred board.  She appears to have a firm understanding
of the patterns of math and will continue to build on that as she
moves into building numbers and adding with the Golden Bead materials.
This computation is done with numbers into the thousands.  In
language, Isabella continues to work on building phonetic words with
the movable alphabet and reading phonetic words.  She can label
objects.  She is also reading phonetic readers in class.  We will work
with puzzle words (words that are no phonetic that she will come into
contact with regularly when reading) and continue with practice with
reading increasingly challenging books and labels.  Watch for these
books to come home for her to share with you!

In Geography, the class has worked with many puzzle maps: the World,
North America, Asia and Africa.  We've explored the names of countries
and interesting facts about places.  We have also presented land and
water, the solar system and land and water forms.  The children will
continue to explore these and other continents through the remainder
of the year.  We have celebrated many cultural and traditional
holidays throughout the first semester of school:  Fall Equinox,
Columbus Day, Halloween, Ramadan, Thanksgiving, Diwali, Chanukah,
Santa Lucia Day, Christmas, Winter Solstice and Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. Day.  In Biology, we have explored and classified:
Living/Non-Living, Plant/Animal, Vertebrate/Invertebrate.  Isabella
has a great interest in and knowldege of so many of our Earth's
creatures.  We never cease to be amazed by the facts she can share
with the class!  We have introduced the parts of the spider, penguin,
skeleton, fish, frog, turtle, bird and mammal.  In Botany, we have
explored and classified: the parts of the plant, roots and leaves.  We
have also presented the parts of the pumpkin and apple.

Comments:
Isabella is a delight to have in class!  She is an interested and
quick learner.  She is also independent, compassionate and
cooperative.  Isabella's confidence and strong sense of herself are a
true testament to the trust she has in the world.  Her joy of learning
is palpable and we are so grateful to have her as part of our
classroom community.  Thank you for sharing Isabella with us!

Comments:
Wow! Seems like an absolutely glowing review of her school performance. It sounds like she is very much enjoying school and exceeding all expectations.

I can imagine how proud her parents must be of her!

Yes, she is an incredible little girl :)

I'm so excited for you that Corrina will be returning soon. Counting down the days!
