My grandfather died last night. :-( He lived in Taiwan, and we had been planning to take a trip there to visit sometime in 2007 or 2008, but we found out we were expecting a baby, so we decided to postpone the trip. We were then planning on going for his 90th birthday, which would have been in 2009. I wish he could have met Isabella and that I could have said goodbye, but he was quite sick for awhile, so it's probably better he is not suffering. We are all just thinking of my grandmother, mom and her siblings now, and how to help them through this tough period.

Isabella has been asking about death recently. Not that it upsets her in anyway though, she's just trying to make sense of the facts:

"Mama, when you grow up, you are going die."

"well, that's true, but hopefully not until you are much older... not until you are a mother or even a grandmother"

"yea, and when I'm older and you die, I can fill up the gas in the car all by myself"

?!? We were at the gas station when she said that...

About our girl at age 4 years and 2 months
Isabella is currently interested in learning all about volcanoes, the human body, mammals, butterflies and moths and other insects. She still adores princesses and the colors pink and purple. She likes to paint and draw flowers, humans, and the sun with lots of rays. She can write her first and last name and is able to sound out all letters and read simple words. She's still very, very sweet, and I am so lucky that I get to spend every day with her!

Isabella also wants to publicly thank her cousin Owen for the awesome Disney stickers and drawing. We're preparing something for Owen. She's having fun sending and receiving mail!

At the Arboretum with Daddy over the weekend. It was a very hot day, and she always seems to make that face when she is hot.

This evening, Snow White made about 30 laps around our house on her tricycle.
