Parent-teacher conference for Isabella's preschool are next week. We just received Isabella's progress report today. It's too good not to share. I actually typed the entire thing below!

Personal Attitude and Social Development

Isabella is always happy to be at school and to see her friends. She is developing self-confidence and is becoming more independent each day. She can take off her coat and hang it, although she ist still working on zipping. She chooses her work by herself. She has a sense of order, can repeat demonstrated sequence and relates new knowledge to that previously mastered. She is able to finish the work cycle. Isabella really enjoys working with a friend, but when she works independently, she experiences longer periods of concentration and is mastering her skills. She has good gross and fine motor skills. She is a good friend to her peers and liked by all the children in the class.

Learning Skills and Interests

Isabella enjoys Practical Life and she continues to pour, baste, squeeze and polish. She enjoys snack but also likes to choose a friend for picnics. These works are wonderful for developing independence, concentration, order, coordination and gross motor skills. In art, Isabella continues to enjoy stringing, painting with watercolors and cutting. Isabella has enjoyed working in the Sensorial area. She has worked with the pink tower, brown stairs and red rods. She builds, compares and makes observations when working with these three-dimensional materials. She has also enjoyed working with the knobbed cylinders, sound cylinder, the geometric cabinet and fabric matching. In Language, Isabella has mastered all of her sounds and will begine phonetic word building with the movable alphabet. She has also worked on many pre-reading skills like matching and classifying pictures and objects. Isabella continues to work with the metal insets, which will continue to develop her hand for handwriting. In Math, Isabella has been working on materials that demonstrate quantity and symbol for numbers 0-9. She is ready to move on to bead bars and will begin working with the teen boards. In Geography, the class has worked with many puzzle maps: the world, North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. We have explored the names of countries, their flags and interesting facts about places, plant and animals. We have also presented air, land and water. The children will continue to explore these and other continents throughout the remainder of the year. In History, we celebrated many cultural holidays throughout the first semester of school: Fall equinox, Columbus Day, Halloween, Ramadan, Thanskgiving, Chanukah, St. Nicholas, Santa Lucia, Christmas, Eid, winter solstice, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and Chinese New Year. We have also presented the seasons, months of the year and days of the week. In Biology, we have explored and classified: Living/non-living, Plant/Animal/Vertebrate/Invertebrate and five classes of vertebrates. We have studied life cycles and parts of different animals such as the fish, frog, turtle, bird, mammal, skeleton, Emperor penguin, turkey and the spider. Isabella has completed a number of "parts of" books as she studies these different forms of animal life. In Botany, we have explored and classified: parts of the flower, leaf and plant. Isabella has enjoyed working with the classification puzzles and painting replications. WE have also present parts of an apple, pumpkin and orange.

Comments:

Isabella's vibrant personality brings so much joy to our classroom. She has grown in so many ways and we look forward to continuing this cycle of learning. She is an enthusiastic learner who is consistently challenging herself to learn new things. She is always joyful about learning new things. We continue to support her independence and will help her foster more relationships. We feel blessed to have Isabella in our class. Thank you for sharing your beautiful daughter with us!
